Under the guidance of the Embassy of India, Doha and with the collaborative efforts of Amrit Uttar Pradesh Navrang Sanskritik Mandal (AUPNSM), Qatar and Bihar Social Forum (BSF), Qatar, a Blue Collar Workers Sports Meet was successfully organised at an air-conditioned multi-purpose indoor hallin Doha.
More than 250 workers from diverse companies and backgrounds actively participated in football tournament, Carrom, Wicket-hitting and Tug-of-War making the event a grand success.
Amrit Uttar Pradesh Navrang Sanskritik Mandal (AUPNSM) President Nita Mishra and Bihar Social Forum (BSF) President Satyendra Pathak highlighted about their organisation’s effort to promote the Indian art, culture and community initiatives.
The Chief Guest, Eish Singhal (First Secretary – Labour & Community Welfare, Visa & OCI), along with Harish Pandey (First Secretary – Education & Culture) graced the event on behalf of the Embassy of India, Doha. Both dignitaries presented trophies and medals to the winners and runners-up, applauding the initiative as a remarkable step in promoting wellness, unity, and respect for the hardworking blue-collar community.
Deepak Singh, General Manager of Roots Qatar, a company specialising in coating and waterproofing solutions, came forward as the lead sponsor for the event. Food sponsorship was graciously extended by Bikanervala and Chaska Restaurant, ensuring that all attendees were well cared for with refreshments during the event.
The sports meet featured an engaging mix of indoor and team sports, tailored for maximum worker participation. For football tournament – six teams (Ashoka, Chandragupta, Mangal, Chanakya, Vikram, Shershah) competed with enthusiasm. Distinct coloured T-shirts were gifted to all players for easy recognition and to add vibrancy to the matches. In a thrilling final, Team Mangal of Roots Qatar emerged champions after penalty shoot-out, while Team Vikram secured the runners-up spot.
Tug-of-War was won by Team Shershah, drawing loud cheers from the audience. Popular indoor games like carrom and wicket-hitting saw wide participation and fostered excitement among players and spectators alike.
Organisers AUPNSM and BSF extended heartfelt thanks to all sponsors, volunteers and participants who made this initiative truly memorable. Founder of AUPNSM, Ashutosh Mishra thanked organising team members – Nikhil Srivastava, Abhishek Srivastava, Ajay Rai, Arun Verma, Arshad Chowdury and Vinod Mishra and also acknowledged strong support extended by the Embassy of India in making this event a huge success. Founder of BSF, Irfan Ansari thanked his organising team members Imam Hussain and Abdul Rahman.
